Visit to W8SJK
Here are some
pictures of the Lads setting up an Icom 751 transceiver as a listening post for
our Radio Bud Warren/W8SJK at his extended care QTH in Marlette. Mike/WB8ICN was
the Project Engineer and with Jack/N8ABY, Ron/K9RON handling the various
un-expected glitches that popped up. Mike came up with a neat "Window Loop
Antenna", I think he wrapped a 1/2 wave 80m loop of light enameled wire around
the window molding of a 3 by 5 ft window and ran it to a special wire to coax
PL259 that connects to the rig. We got Warren into the conversation, rather than
talk to him, by the end of the three hour session his alertness and talking
participation had taken a marked improvement. I feel today, we helped to repair
some of those broken tracks to his mind and muscles.
